Call the right people
Keep a call list for each kind of help, in the order you would call. A call-out goes to your first choice and moves on if they decline or cannot answer. Everyone responds in a single step, from a workstation or from the iPhone, and you are notified as people answer.
An evidence room you can run
Set up every place evidence is kept, from shelving and lockers to drying cabinets, refrigerators, freezers and temporary holding, and decide who may do what at each one.
From the scene to the envelope
Print blank QR stickers. An item marked with what it is and any hazards waits in the department's queue. Pick it to bring it into its case, record its packaging and handling, and print the evidence tag for the envelope. The sticker stays in the chain of custody.
Accountability on every action
Every item added, request accepted, booking and finding carries the name of the person who did it, and of whoever an agent acted for. Many people work one case at the same time without overwriting each other, and each case's record is a hash chain that DEVI can check at any time.
Every kind of item, one case
Digital extractions, video, images, audio, documents and physical property all live in one case, each with its source, hashes, holder and status. Every source is processed bit for bit, and timeline, map, communications and people views point straight back to it.
Connect the systems you already use
Your department already pays for systems that hold useful data. Plug them into DEVI, and DEVI interprets that data to make it useful for your case, so nothing is re-keyed or re-exported by hand.
From findings to a finished report
Write findings that cite the items behind them, build the report from those findings, and export a package with a signed manifest and a SHA-256 for every file, with approvals before anything leaves.
