Warrant and legal process templates

How a department turns its warrant templates into documents filled from the case, with a person reviewing each one.

What it means

Most departments already have the templates: the phone search warrant, the preservation letter, the legal-process request to a provider. The slow part is filling them from the case, finding the provider's current contact, and keeping the document tied to the facts it cites.

What to look for

The questions to ask: Can I use my own templates, or only the vendor's? Are the facts in the document linked to where they came from in the case? Does the provider's contact come from a dated source? Does a person review and sign, or does the software send?

How DEVI does it

In DEVI, your templates live in a folder the agency controls. A document is filled from the case, each fact cited to its source, with the provider's preservation and legal-process contacts from a dated record. A person reviews, edits and sends; DEVI never sends on its own.
